Slave 1 - AMT Model - Streaking and Finishing [Part 6]

On to the streaking grime.  For this model I used only the streaking effects and not the rust streaking or winter streaking effects.  Had the ship been abandoned in a wetter climate or bog then these other effects may have made sense.

The way you use the grime is you apply it and it runs down an area.  Let it dry and then use Mineral Spirits (or Isopropyl Alcohol in my case) to reactivate it and move it around into streaks.  The streaks follow gravity on the ship because they are made by the dust and sand being washed down the ship during the occasional storm.  While streaking the grime it also moved a little of the rust which I was fine with because it was a subtle effect.

I painted and streaked the wings and added some rust to the inside wing area.  I used some sandpaper and matte finish on the cockpit glass to show wear.  Some painted thread put into where the gun was pulled off acts as wires and connections.  The panels were rusted and streaked.  Here it all sits on a piece of sand coated paper which will be used on the base.  I will then use some loose sand and white glue thinned down to create sand drifts around the ship.  A few spotty grass tufts should round it out and then it will be ready for show.
