Ma.k. Maschinen Krieger - I may be hooked

Ok.  Something about the 'what if' of WW2 mechs intrigues me and also gives me a creative outlet which has some basis for colors and other ideas.  That said, my second Ma.k. model morphed into a diorama which took as long as the model itself.  The model has some hidden features that aren't quite done yet but won't matter for the IPMS show this weekend (the spotlight has an LED in it and the gun barrel is motorized...need to add a resistor and switch and figure out the best way to trigger it all though).

I had added a few photo etch panels from an unrelated set on the model to give it some 'panels' that could be painted different colors (orange).  I painted the piece and then began to ruin the paint job using washes, rust weather, streaking grime, and all kinds of other products from AK Interactive.

The tank on the side and the motor were painted individually before assembly and weathered by themselves.  All of the handles and rails were made using copper rod to replace the plastic pieces which tend to break.

The brick wall and base were made from balsa foam.  It is an awesome product (though expensive) which carves very nicely.  I made the bricks larger to imply a government building in Germany based on some photos I had found.

All of the posters / flyers were printed on normal paper and then weathered using Citadel washes.  I then coated them with a matte gel and then lit a few on fire to give them a burnt look / feel.  I scattered a number of them around on the ground with a few remaining on the wall.

The barbed wire is from Green Stuff World and I coiled it around a container I had to get a uniform coil to it.  The barricades were made from some styrene I beams with some flat styrene cut and glued into support pyramids based on some photos I found of similar barricades from WW2.

The grass is just a loose grass from Lifelike glued in place and then airbrushed after some trimming (even in the winter I'm mowing the lawn).  I then took a snow material and sprinkled it while I airbrushed future floor wax (Pledge with future) with tamiya flat medium mixed into it (to get rid of the gloss finish of the wax).

P.S. Sorry Jim, Andrea overrode you on the resizing of the diorama.
